Mike Cole is a speech-language pathologist in Aurora, Illinois who has worked in the school setting for approximately 15 years. He worked in self-contained settings and general education settings with various age groups. He was an assistive technology specialist for Indian Prairie School District 204 focusing on augmentative communication for 4 years, working with school age children of all levels. Currently he is in his 6th year of private practice and president of Use Your Words, P.C. specializing in augmentative and alternative communication. Mike currently serves clients in home and at school with complex communication needs. If enabled and trained, parents can be more effective than the speech-language pathologist. Ongoing training and modification from the SLP is required as skills change and develop to maintain that effectiveness.
