Trying to increase my toolkit of ideas on increasing students' gaining attention appropriately for primarily nonverbal students. What ideas do you have?

Do you mean giving a non-verbal student a way to gain attention? One quick idea would be to have a simple voice-out put switch (Big Mac or even single message go-talk buttons) that says "I have something to say" or "excuse me".

She doesn't come to me to let me know what she wants, but it's easy for me to figure out, because she tries to do things for herself. She knows what she wants, and her behavior shows me what she wants. If she runs out of something to eat, she will just try to get more, rather than trying to get me to give her more.
